Sender ID

Sender ID Ghana — show your brand on every SMS

When a customer receives your SMS, the sender field should say your business name — not a random short code they cannot recognise. Taysend registers alphanumeric sender IDs between 3 and 11 characters for LIVE traffic in Ghana.

Approval

How approval works

Submit your proposed sender name through Taysend after you create an account. Networks review the label to confirm it identifies your organisation. Approval is handled through Taysend — you do not apply to each operator separately. We do not publish fixed turnaround times because review depends on the name and current queue.

Until approval completes, use TEST keys with the sandbox sender TAYSEND and simulated numbers. LIVE sends with an unapproved name are rejected.

Examples

Naming examples

Sensible names

  • ACMEGH

Brand abbreviation — recognisable, not a single common word.

  • KOFICLINIC

Business name that recipients can tie to a specific organisation.

  • TAYSEND

Product or company name (sandbox default in TEST mode).

Too generic

  • INFO

Too generic — could belong to any sender.

  • ALERT

No brand identity; easy to confuse with spam.

  • SMS

Describes the channel, not your organisation.

FAQ

Straight answers

If something here is product behaviour, it matches the dashboard and the API.

01How long can a sender ID be?+

Alphanumeric sender IDs must be between 3 and 11 characters. Letters and numbers only — no spaces or special symbols.

02Do I need approval before sending LIVE?+

Yes. LIVE traffic requires an approved sender ID. Submit the name through Taysend; networks review the proposed label before it goes live.

03Can I use any name I want?+

The name should represent your business or product. Overly generic labels like INFO or ALERT are often rejected because they do not identify the sender.

04What sender ID is used in TEST mode?+

TEST keys use the sandbox sender TAYSEND with simulated numbers. You do not need a personal approval to exercise the API.

05Does each city need a different sender ID?+

No. One approved Ghana sender ID works nationwide on MTN, Telecel, and AT.
